As part of the agreement on the creative collaboration between Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University (Department of Biology and methods of teaching biology) and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics, NAS of Ukraine, there was a regular meeting between Leonid Zaika, the senior researcher of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Ph.D., and the students of the research group.

The subject of conversation was healthy people and the environment at the molecular level. During the meeting Leonid Andriyovych familiarized the students with the latest researches in the molecular biology and genetics. In particular, those were the issues of improving the targeting genetic information of the biological objects, cleaning up the environment using plants that could absorb atmospheric nitrogen instead of expensive fertilizers; increasing the crops grown on the saline soils and boosting the productivity of beneficial insects (bees, silkworms, trichogrammas), fishes, birds and animals. The student research group was also interested in the problematic topic of combating agrobacterial cancer of plants based on a radically new technology of its diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

The group expressed an interest in all the problems of the discussion. As part of these research activities they are immersed in a world of new discoveries and receive invaluable professional experience as the future professionals.
