  1. General Description of the University

Uman State Pedagogical University was founded in 1930 as the Institute of Social Education. For years the University has established itself as an intellectual center, the center of national culture as the basis of the creative personality of intended teachers. The commitment of its professors has contributed much to the University todays high prestige.

Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University is a higher state educational institution of the IVth (highest) level of accreditation. In its structure there is one institution that unite 11 faculties. From 2013, the Separate structural unit of the Kaniv College of Culture and Arts (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1821 of 24.12.13) operates.

The educational process is provided by the teaching staff of 39 departments, which comprise over 500 teachers; among them 52 doctors of sciences, professors and 312 candidates of sciences, associate professors. There are 1 current member (academician) of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, an academician of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, 7 Honored Education Workers of Ukraine in the stuff of scientific and pedagogical workers, Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine, 5 Honored Workers of Culture of Ukraine, People's Artist of Ukraine, 2 Masters of Sports of Ukraine and international class, laureates of international competitions and state awards, more than 80 excellent educators of Ukraine, more than 50 workers were awarded with medals, breastplates and other state and departmental awards.

There are 3 research centers of double submission (NAPN, NAS and MES of Ukraine), 15 regional scientific and methodological centers, 3 international cultural and educational centers, 24 research laboratories, 14 scientific schools, 2 specialized academic councils, postgraduate and doctoral studies are functioning in the scientific infrastructure of the University.

Training facilities of the University include 5 academic and laboratory buildings, training handicraft workshops, 2 student hostels, an agricultural biological station, a research library, 3 reading rooms for students, faculty and graduate students, 12 computer rooms, 3 phonetic laboratories, 2 student cafeteria, a sports complex.

Every year the university hosts nationwide and international conferences.

Scientific research conducted by the University researchers covers a wide range of problems of fundamental and applied nature.

Scientific work covers about two thousand students.

University enjoys successful cooperation with universities in Poland, France, USA, Canada, Germany, Belarus and other countries, the professors of the University are members of international scientific societies, associations and administrative structures. The department of international cooperation actively functions at the university, Polish cultural and educational center, Ukrainian-Israeli Center for Education, Science and Culture, in 2016 the Ukrainian-Turkmen Educational and Cultural Center started its work. Pavlo Tychyna Uman Pedagogical University acts as the coordinator of the international project EMINENCE 2, successfully implements the programs of academic mobility "Mobile +", Action II and double diploma.

The socio-cultural structure of the University involves Center for Culture and Leisure "Gaudeamus", a sports club, a museum of history of the institution, Bazhan Literary studio, vocal, instrumental and choreographic ensembles, a student theatre, "Pedagogical news" newspaper is published.

Twelve art groups have the "national" honorary title.

Among the University athletes there are members of the Olympic and Youth National teams. The winners of championships of Ukraine, Europe, the world from various sports

  1. List of educational programs offered by the university

The university offers a wide range of educational programs at the first (bachelor’s programs) and the second (master’s programs) levels of higher education. The University also provides training at the third level of higher education through the postgraduate study. A complete list of educational programs can be found under the heading “Training.   1. General Requirements for Admission

Admission to the University is subject to Admission Rules, developed by the Admissions Committee of Uman State Pedagogical University in accordance with the Conditions of admission to higher educational institutions of Ukraine.

The training is conducted according to the standard Ukrainian multilevel scheme - bachelor, specialist, master.

The following documents are required for admission to the University:

  • a copy of the identity document and identification number;
  • a copy of a military ID or certificate of registration with the recruiting station;
  • a copy of the state document on the previously obtained educational (educational and qualification) level, on the basis of which admission is made, and a copy of its annex;
  • a copy of the certificate(s) of external independent assessment (for applicants on the basis of complete general secondary education);
  • four color photographs in the size of 3 x 4 cm.

The University provides services to foreign citizens in accredited specialties, as well as carries out preparation for entering the higher educational institutions of citizens of Ukraine. Students have the opportunity to undergo military training and get an officer's rank.

  1. General Registration Procedures

Applicants on the basis of a general certificate of secondary education in full-time and part-time forms submit applications only in electronic form, except for certain categories of persons belonging to the privileged categories.

Applicants may submit up to seven applications for places of budget and regional order in no more than four specialties.

For the competitive selection of entrants, the points of Independent external evaluation certificates (results of entrance exams or creative competitions) from three competitive subjects will be counted.

The University has an information and consultation center at the Admissions Committee to assist applicants when submitting applications in electronic form. Applicants may contact the Center for the purpose of creating an electronic cabinet, submitting applications in electronic form, downloading the application to the general certificate of secondary education.

Entrants on the basis of the EQL "Junior Specialist" apply for entry only in paper form. For the competitive selection of persons who enter the Bachelor's (Bachelor) or Bachelor's (Baccalaureate) Degree, the results of professional entrance exams are used on the basis of the "Junior Specialist" qualification.

Applicants on the basis of the obtained degree (educational qualification level) of higher education for obtaining an educational degree "Master" apply for entry in paper form. Competition selection is based on the results of the foreign language exam and professional entrance examinations.

For admission to studying for a Master's Degree in the following specialties: 032 History and Archeology, 034 Cultural Studies, 051 Economics, 053 Psychology, 071 Accounting and Taxation, 072 Finance, Banking and Insurance, 073 Management, 075 Marketing, 076 Entrepreneurship, Trade exchange activities, 241 Hotel and restaurant business, 242 Tourism, 281 Public management and administration. Competitive selection is carried out on the results of entrance examinations in the form of a single professional entrance exam in a foreign language, which is conducted with the use of Independent  Testing organizational processes and implementation of professional examinations. Sign up for a single entrance exam in a foreign language is required for the period from May 13 to June 3. The registration will take place at: Sadova Street, 2, room 208, Uman, Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University. To register you need: 2 photos 3 x 4, passport and identification number.

Admission for these specialties for persons who received educational degree "Master" or education level "Specialist" in another specialty is without compulsory passing professional single entrance exam in a foreign language.

  1. Awarding ECTS

Pavlo Tychyna Uman Pedagogical University has the European Credit Transfer System operates. The transfer of educational achievements from other universities is carried out by procedures and on the basis of ECTS documents: academic transcript (extract of knowledge) student’s form (student’s application form) diploma supplement; agreement on practical training and a commitment to quality.

Each academic institute of the University has a coordinator of the institute as well as ECTS consultants for each Bachelor field of study. The relevant data are contained on the website of each academic institute.

  1. General Practical Information

Conditions for studying

Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University is a powerful complex of educational and production facilities, which creates favorable conditions for studying. There are 5 teaching and laboratory staff, educational workshops, 3 reading rooms, 12 computer classes, 3 language classes, 2 student dining rooms, a sports complex, a scientific library, and an agricultural plant.

Accommodation and meals

The University has two hostels for 720 beds, one of which is sectional, with a bathroom and kitchen in each section. The hostels are compactly located on campus of the educational building №3 of the University and border with the park area, 200 m from which the world-famous park "Sofiyivka" is located.

In educational buildings № 1, 3 for students - student dining rooms. Dining staff constantly maintain order and provide a high level of service to visitors. The dining menu includes salads, first courses, second courses, juices, water, natural coffee, pastries, dairy dietetic dishes. The price policy in the dining room of the University is moderate, the dishes are always fresh and of high quality.

Health care support (services) for university students

There are medical stations in administrative buildings № 1 and 3 that serve the students of the University. Emergency and first medical care is always provided, a preventive examination is carried out.

Insurance and financial support for students

he scholarship fund provides for two types of scholarships - academic (for educational attainment) and social (for socially disadvantaged citizens, beneficiaries).

Academic scholarship is given to students who hold high marks in the University's success rate. The size of the minimum academic scholarship is 1300 UAH, excellent students get 1892 UAH. On separate specialties (014 Secondary education (Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Informatics), 016 Special Education) ordinary scholarship is 1660 UAH, increased scholarship - 2416 UAH.

Social scholarships are paid by social security bodies on the basis of relevant documents.

There are a number of special scholarship programs at the University - scholarships of the President of Ukraine, the Supreme Council of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers, the name of prominent scholars, etc.

Student government

There is the Student Council  University to ensure that students fulfill their duties and protect rights, the formation of civic competence.

Students are actively involved in the discussion and solution of issues of improving the educational process, research work, the appointment of scholarships, leisure activities, recreation, life and nutrition.

Student Council is divided into the following sectors: educational, information and communication, cultural and educational, socio-legal, sports and health and volunteer.

The student body is actively involved in the management of the University. Student leaders are members of the Academic Council and the administration, as well as members of academic councils of faculties / institute. In agreement with the student government of the University, decisions are made on enrollment, dismissal, transfer, and reinstatement of students; appointment of the deputy dean of the faculty, deputy director of the institute, vice-rector of the university; settlements and evictions from the hostel; approval of the internal rules and the like.

International Programs

Among the traditional directions of international cooperation is the improvement of the qualification level of scientific and pedagogical workers in foreign educational institutions; training of specialists in common with foreign partners; international scientific conferences, symposiums and working meetings; membership in international scientific, educational, administrative structures, associations, societies; participation of teachers and students in international programs and funds; highlighting and celebrating the university's academic achievements at the international level; co-operation through twin cities.

The university’s internationalization is carried out within the framework of 57 cooperation agreements with educational institutions from more than 20 countries, which allowed the participation of teachers and students in a number of international events. Among the programs implemented at the University together with partner educational institutions are “Interdisciplinary Individual Humanitarian Studios (IIHS)”, a double degree program with partner universities of the Republic of Poland, 3 generations of the Mobile + project under the Erasmus + program, academic mobility program MEVLANA, projects in cooperation with the British Council in Ukraine.

The University develops 10 educational and experimental research projects. In particular, in 2017 the institution won a grant under the Consortium of the project "Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education Using Innovative Teaching Tools" (MoPED No. 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP.) The implementation of the MoPED project will have a significant impact on the quality of higher pedagogical education and will improve the digital and didactic competences of future school teachers, which in turn fully meets the challenges and requirements of the pedagogical high school and supports ambitious large-scale educational reforms in Ukraine.

In 2021, the University signed the "Magna Charta Universitatum" document and became a member of Black Sea University Network – BSUN.

Great attention is also paid to the participation of the University staff in international contests of individual projects. Leading researchers regularly receive grants from the DAAD, Erasmus +, etc.

Organization of educational, sports-mass and cultural-leisure activities

There are various circles, clubs of interests, leisure studios, creative teams and at the University Departments. In total, there are about 50 of them, and 12 teams have the honorary title of “national”.

The university is a center for the development of sports and mass sports work in the city and region. In order to attract students to systematic physical education and sports, there are 16 health clubs at the sports club. University teams participate in competitions in the city, region, Ukraine, successfully compete and win the championships of Ukraine, Europe and the world.

The University conducts active work with foreign students, the main goal of which is their successful adaptation, acquaintance with Ukraine, its beauty, culture and traditions of the Ukrainian people, our region, city, and educational institution.

Organization of training for students with special needs

The University has a student social and psychological service. Student volunteers take part in various promotions.

The institution has accumulated significant experience in inclusive education: students with special needs are actively involved in social and cultural life, and all conditions for psychological support and socio-cultural adaptation are created for them. The University gives such students not only the opportunity to get the appropriate qualification, modern profession, but also helps in finding work. The University has a Center for Social and Educational Integration “Without Barriers”, which introduces social and psychological rehabilitation technologies in the context of expanding the living space of students with disabilities, including through means of inclusive social rehabilitation tourism, volunteering, social educational practices and the like.

Trade Union Organizations

The Trade Union Organization of the University is a voluntary, largest organization that brings together youth with an active social position, regardless of citizenship, nationality, political views and religious beliefs. The trade union carries out representation and protection of interests, rights and freedoms of students.

The priority areas of the trade union activity include social protection, improvement, housing and sanitary and hygienic living conditions, cultural and mass work, provision of material assistance to those who need it, provision of legal assistance, qualified consultations on any issues, assistance in their solution.

The key to the success of the trade union organization is the continuous support from the administration, fruitful cooperation with all the structural subdivisions of the University and student self-government bodies.
