Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University was included in the register of organizations entitled to conduct testing and offer the educational process in preparation for international language exams. The university is accredited at the examination center "Universal Test".
In this regard, the Regional Center for International Language Exams in English was opened on the basis of the university with the opportunity to obtain an international certificate of ECL and ESOL, which correspond to the level of English language: A2, B1, B2, C1.
ECL
ECL (European Consortium for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Languages) is a global European language assessment scheme, which provides accreditation for language skills at levels from beginner to advanced - 15 European languages.
Benefits:
- indefinite validity of the certificate;
- checks and detects the real level of knowledge of a foreign language as a means of communication to a greater extent than other tests;
- available format;
- fewer amount of tasks compared to other international tests;
- ability to take different blocks of the test separately (writing + reading or speaking + listening).
It is important to note that such a certificate does not indicate whether you passed the second half of the test. Thus, in case of failure on one of the blocks, it will not be reflected in the overall assessment - you will receive a certificate for the block that was successfully passed. This doubles your chances of getting an ECL certificate.
In Europe, the "half" ECL certificate is respected. Many candidates do not even have to take all the test tasks.
The ECL certificate can be used for:
- obtaining academic titles by scientific and scientific-pedagogical employees of the HEI
- admission to European educational institutions;
- to obtain a European visa and residence permit;
- double degree programs;
- exemption of entrants and students who have an ECL certificate from passing the foreign language exam;
- obtaining additional points for entrants to the HEI at the qualification levels of master and specialist;
- employment in Ukraine and abroad.
Test format
The test consists of two parts: oral (Speaking and Listening) and written (Reading and Writing).
The exam is successful if the candidate achieves at least 40% in each of the skills, and at least 60% in each part (in two oral and two written).
- Listening - 25 points
- Reading - 25 points
- Writing - 25 points
- Speaking (oral speech) - 25 points
Maximum amount: 100 points
The exam is successful if the candidate scores at least 10 points for each part of the exam. In addition, the total score must be at least 30 points.
