December 2013 was fruitful for the athletes of the University. Earlier this month, the world championship in kickboxing was held in Antalya in Turkey with 2000 participants from 65 countries. 28 athletes including our student Artem Savenko were competing in the category up to 63 kg. Artem had three competitions. He won in the first one with the Brazilian, in the second one with the Kazakh; he yielded to an athlete from Kyrgyzstan in the third semifinal match and eventually won the 5th place.

In December a cup in wrestling with the participation of our University students was held in Brovary city. Maryna Panchokha won the III place in the 67 kg category and Maryna Mospan won the III place in the category of up to 72 kg.

The 25th nationwide competitions in the honor of Oleksandr Tkanko, the Hero of the Soviet Union were held on the 13-14 of December on the arena of the city of Cherkasy. It was attended by around 300 athletes from Uman, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Poltava and other cities. The program included the following kinds of sports: 50, 200, 400, 1000, 3000 meter races, running jumps, high jumps, 4/1 relay.

The team of our University was presented by the best athletes: Eugeniy Biley, Andriy Boroday, Sergiy Sydorenko, Dmytro Zarva, Olexandr Litvin, Constantine Shcherbatenko, Tetiana Chornokozynska, Victoria Taran, Valentina Voitovych, Natalia Melnyk, Lesya Kolisnyk.

The 4/1 relay was especially successful for our athletes as it brought them 2310 points. The most active athletes were Eugeniy Biley (1490 points), Natalia Melnyk (1305 points) and Tetiana Chornokozynska (1192 points).

All the members of the USPU team showed the best results and gained 10672 points. They brought the team to a higher level. Our team is awarded the third place among the higher educational institutions in Cherkasy Oblast.

Our student Yaroslav Petrychenko was the best in the boxing championship in Cherkasy Oblast held in Cherkasy from the 20 to 22 of December. The competition was attended by 60 athletes. Yaroslav Petrychenko, the first year student of the Physical Training Department (weight category up to 69 kg) won the first place and obtained the right to defend the honor of the Cherkasy Oblast at Ukraine Championship Boxing on the 19 of January in the city of Kharkiv.

The fourth championship in repeated bench press with 40 athletes of different age and weight categories participating was opened in the University. Winners were the students, namely Ivan Mudrak, the student of Physical Training Department won the II place in multiple bench press among men in the weight category up to 67 kg, Andranik Manhiyan, the student of Physical Training Department won the I place in the weight category up to 75 kg, Sergei Il'chenko, the teacher of PT won the I place in the weight category up to 82 kg, Eugeniy Lozinskyi, the student of Physical Training Department won the II place; in the weight category up to 90 kg the first place was awarded to Andriy Polishchuk, the student of Technology and Pedagogics Department, the third place was given to Oleg Sirota, the student of Physical Training Department; in the weight category of 100+ kg Victor Kol'tsov, the coach of Physical Training Department won the first place. Among women in the weight category up to 60 kg the second place was given to Eugenia Kol'tsova, the student of Physical Training Department and the third place to Olga Dubbelt, the student of Physical Training Department.
