The Cup of Ukraine in boxing among men took place in Mariupol.The oldest tournament in Europe - legendary Memorial in commemoration of Makar Mazay. This tournament exists 48 years and almost all the stars of boxing from Ukraine, USSR, CIS, and other foreign countries participated in it. The following sportsmen were among them: Klitschko brothers, Sydorenko brothers, Andriy Kotelnyk, Sergiy Dzinziruk, Vasyl Lomachenko, Oleksandr Usyk, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Yeugen Khytrov and other Ukrainian boxing stars.

Boxing duels were held in one of the best sport complexes in Ukraine - "Illichivets". Cherkasy region was represented by six boxers and one USPU student Andriy Smyrnov was among them.

As a result of the seven-day compatition Cherkasy region ranked the fourth team place, after Donetsk, Vinnytsia and Kyiv regions.

In the individual classification our boxer Andriy Smyrnov in his weight category took the second place. This is a historic event, because Uman sportsmen has never shown such results.
