This year, Shevchenko is truly revered in the society. His "Struggle and overcome" slogan was very popular. And this new closeness has to be continued to further develop in the new understanding.
May 22 Kaniv celebrated the 153 anniversary of the reburial of Taras Shevchenko on the Chernechna mountain. Cherkasy Oblast was attended by the famous people studying the heritage of Shevchenko, public figures, representatives of Ukrainian Diaspora and the fans of poetry of Taras Shevchenko from all over Ukraine and abroad.
The staff and students of Kaniv Institute of Humantities at Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University are involved in organizing and holding the cultural and scientific events taking place these days. In particular, Kaniv Institute of Humantities of USPU, Kaniv College of Culture and Arts, Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University organized and held "Cherkasy Oblast Celebrities" regional scientific and practical conference.
The scientists and staff of the University on behalf of the Rector Natalia Pobirchenko welcomed the participants and made their speeches at the plenary and breakout sessions. The students of the institute and college prepared "Gajdamaky" performance and "Shevchenko in my heart" recital was organized by Liubov Minenko, a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine.
The students and teachers were also members of the "following the last travels of Kobzar" solemn procession from the Assumption Cathedral to the foot of the Chernecha Mountain. Flowers were put at the foot of the Shevchenko’s grave.
Olena Polishchuk, the Associate Professor of our University, a member of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine, Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine, presented her own creative achievements in the exhibition of works of fine arts and decorative arts.
