On June 16, 2024, the International Summer School "Internationalization and Internationalization at Home through Virtual Exchange: Creating a Motivating Environment for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)" began as part of the project "BNI-UE-2023-23: Cooperation between Adam Mickiewicz University and Ukrainian Universities within the Alliance of European Universities". Representing Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University at the Summer School is Ilona Boichevska, an Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

Participants from higher education institutions across Ukraine attended the official opening on the first day and had the opportunity to learn about the history of Adam Mickiewicz University, its operations and structure, student activities, and its collaborations with universities worldwide. Watching a film about the university allowed participants to take a virtual tour of the university's buildings, classrooms, and laboratories. Additionally, Dr. Konstantin Mazur delivered an informative and inspiring lecture titled "Interdisciplinarity by Example".

Participants attended lectures presented by Dr. Joanna Domagała, where they received valuable information on the current state of the internationalization process, local and global trends in higher education, higher education rankings, and internationalization in their own country. The interactive activities were particularly valuable, as they facilitated active group discussions, followed by an exchange of views with the audience.

Every day, the school participants gain invaluable knowledge and information through educational trainings and lectures. For example, on June 19, Dr. Katarzyna Radke introduced the concept and essence of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), traditional teaching, and the challenges facing the future of education. The participants learned how to set clear goals, define appropriate tasks, choose effective tools for intercultural online collaboration, and distinguish between different COIL formats, ranging from individual lessons to joint courses. Using a problem-based learning approach, the participants discussed the evolution of education, future needs, the features of the flipped classroom methodology, and the benefits of creating a COIL Training Course for teachers, students, and learners.
