On the 9th of March, the University honoured the prominent Ukrainian people's poet Taras Shevchenko on the occasion of 197th anniversary of the his birth.

Large University delegation (over 100 persons) led by prof. Natalya Pobirchenko took part in the celebrations in the small Taras Shevchenko fatherland - Shevchenkove village Zvenygorodka District, where she laid flowers at Kobzar monument, visited the museum, University creative teams performed to Shevchenko villagers with a big concert programme. Another delegation (50 persons) headed by the University vice rector Assoc. Prof. Oleksander Bezlyudnyi visited Kaniv, where the National Taras Shevchenko Prize winners were awarded with the assistance of Ukrainian Prime Minister.

The same day, Philology And Social Science Institute students participated in laying flowers at Taras Shevchenko monument in Uman. During the ceremony the assistant professor of Ukrainian Literature And Ukrainology Chair Leonid Kozynskyi and dean of Ukrainian Philology Department Tetyana Lopushan spoke to the audience.
