Dialectological practice for USPU linguists is a good opportunity to gain new knowledge and impressions. This summer, a group of 38 students were lucky to have their dialectological practice in the picturesque village of Verkhnye Vysotske Turka Raion, Lviv Oblast.

Arriving at their destination, the future linguists studied the local dialect and compared it to the literary style equivalents. Using the thematic questionnaires, the students collected the information about various aspects of traditional culture of the local residents, studied their architecture, clothing, shoes, food, calendar and family rituals.

The people who had lived all their lives in the village told the trainees about the old wedding rituals, ritual calendar, family customs and maternity services there. It's safe to say that those things are quite different from the modern ones. Cooperating with the old-timers, the students had the opportunity to develop their communication skills and collect all the necessary information supporting it with their photos and videos.
