Lecturers and students of USPU took part in opening of documentary and arts exhibition “Through the thorns to the stars”, dedicated to history of fighting for independence of Ukraine in XX-XXI c. The exhibition took place at historical preserve “Old Uman”.

The exposition was created by 25 authors, 5 community and volunteer organizations of Uman and Uman district. There were presented works of paintings, sculptures, photos, caricatures, artifacts and the other materials, which represent events of Euro Maidan and ATO.

During the liberation movement for Ukraine hundred thousands of patriots all over our country gave their lives for the sake of Ukraine. Their fame will be immortal.

Those tragic days during the Revolution of Dignity on Hrushevskiy Street, Instytutska Street, Mariyskiy Park in Kyiv our compatriots were perished. Among 99 heroes of Sky Hundred 6 were born in Cherkassy region. They are citizens from: Smila – Andriy Saenko, Talne – Yuriy Parashchuk, village of Grushkivka, Kamianka district – Maksym Horoshyshyn, village Nosachiv, Smila district – Yuriy Paskhalin, village Podibna, Mankivka district – Viktor Chernets, village Furmanivka, Uman district – Vitaliy Smolenskiy. President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko conferred them the rank of Hero of Ukraine. They were commemorated by a minute of silence as well as perished in ATO.

Students had a chance to get acquainted with the exhibition’s authors and talk to them about ATO soldiers who are fighting for Ukraine’s freedom and liberty. The exhibition visited volunteers, who help to bring closer our victory.
