On the 4th of April at the USPU gym was held XVI Cherkasy region championship in Kyokushin karate (WKO version) in weighting categories among teenagers, youngsters, juniors and adults. The tournament is dedicated to memorial of a famous Ukrainian writer Stanislav Zinchuk (04.10.1939 – 29.01.2010).
In the competition participated 150 people, aged from 6 up to 17 from different regiions of Ukraine: Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Odesa. Cherkasy was represented by 10 teams.
The competition was organized by Cherkasy region federation in Kyokushin karate, administration in family matters, youth and sports of Cherkasy region state administration, city department in physical education and sports of Uman executuve committee.
The sporting event was open by creative collective of Arts and Pedagogics Department of USPU: national amateur ensemble of contemporary dances “Vizavi” (director – Lyudmyla Androschuk) and national amateur ensemble of national dances “Yavoryna” (director – Sergiy Kutsenko).
As a result of fierce fightings the jury defined the best karateka in different categories. All the participants were rewarded by medals and diplomas.
USPU rector Oleksandr Besludnyi, Physical Education Department dean Galyna Bezverkhnia and directors of choreography groups Lyudmyla Androschuk and Serhiy Kutsenko received certificates of graditude, signed by the president of Cherkasy region federation in Kyokushin karate Igor Soloshenko, for their support in conducting of XVI Cherkasy region open championship in Kyokushin karate “Uman 2015”.
Additional information: Stanislav Zinchuk is a famous publicist, translator, historian and folklorist. He was born in Khrystynivka, Cherkasy region. After Philology Department at T. Shevchenko Kyiv State University graduating, he worked for newspapers “Evening Kyiv”, Khreschatyk” magazines “Pioneers”, “VAK of Ukraine Bulletin”, publishing houses “Dnipro”, “Molod”, in the apparatus of Writers’ of Ukraine Union, Secretariat of Verkhovna Rada. He‘s been a member of Writers’ of Ukraine Union since 1973. He is an author of collection of poems, poetry, historical investigations. Stanislav Zinchuk actively cooperated with Uman State Pedagogical University, conducted Tychyna’s recitations. It’s the fifth year that Cherkasy region federation in Kyokushin karate dedicates competition in commemoration of Ukrainian patriot Stanislav Zinchuk.
