Specialists in sound nutrition say that 80% of our health depends upon safe food.Sound nutriotion ensures normal growth and development of children, prevention from disease, prolongues life, raises ability to work, and protects from unfavourable ecology.

Foodstuffs must meet people’s physiological needs in necessary elements and energy, correspond to organoleptic, physical and chemical demands, content of chemical, radiological and biological elements their composition and microorganisms, which are dangerous for life. Because of dangerous food, annually at about 2 mln people die, in particular children. Pathogenic bacteria, viruses, parasites or chemical elements in food can cause 200 diseases – from diarrhea to cancer. In general, in Ukraine from 12 % to 15 % of dairy produces, fish, and from 7 % to 12 % of meat don’t correspond to bacteriological standards. From 1,5 % to 10 % of food contain heavy metals, in particular mercury, plumb, cadmium, copper, zinc, qmong them from 2,5 % to 5 % are over maximum permissible concentration. With the aim of increase animal’s productivity, are widely used different fodder admixtures medical and chemical preparations. A lot of them are harmful, and their contents in meat, milk and fat can be damageful to man’s organism.

Another kind of danger is chemical pollution of food. If to the crops are added fertilizers and chemical pesticids, such corps can have both bad taste and be dangerous. The other reason of food law quality is using of cheap agricultural raw, reduction of technological cicles, and even application of high technology equipment. Producers put a lot of efforts to make food good-looking so that to get high incomes. As usually they use food additive (scarifiers, food preservatives, taste and smell amends. Thousands of new products appear annually, which contain food additives. Their use is regulated by Law of Ukraine.

We should remember that our health depends much more upon our habits and nutrition than on doctor’s skills.
