In the beginning of October students of Ukrainian Philology Department visited soldiers wounded in ATO zone who were cured at the Main Military Clinical Hospital (Kyiv). Students and teachers of the university collected at about 6000 hryvnias for protectors’ treatment. They visited two departments: traumatology and surgery. They wished all the wounded fast recovering and peace. Meeting with wounded left a deep track in students’ souls and they expressed their thoughts on papers.

We should go to the front to help

It’s very difficult to share your impressions on experience, somebody can say that it is even immodesty, but I’ll try… I think that it is very important for Ukrainian people who didn’t visit and support our heroes.

Soldiers’ life reality at military hospital in Kyiv has changed my views. TV, Mass Media, the Internet don’t render those feelings acquired from your own experience. Nobody of soldiers complained that he had pain, that it hurted, but at the same time thousands of thoughts were in my head, “So much disasters and suffering are brought on the Earth! How to cure wounds of our heroes? How to make them happy?

Nowadays in the Main Military Clinical Hospital there are tousands of wounded who require expensive treatment and help from all of us. Our heroes are real Heroes without any doubts. Brave, courageous and hardy, they conscionsly went to the war for us, our peaceful life, quiet dreams in the night. They put at stake their life, youth and health.

Most of wounded were born in the same year as me. They are full of strength and patriotism, kindness and love! It seizes breath, strengthens spirit and gives optimism. When I talked to strong fighters, I felt relief and faith in our nation that everything would be good for Ukraine, and we would definitely win. Before being wounded our defenders stood in the forefront, and now we should go to the front to help them and together to deal a knock-down blow.

Remember every moment about our heroes

Impressions acquired during our visit to the hospital are impossible to describe only by words. What we saw deeply touched us, was inprinted in our memory. It is difficult to imagine that the reality can be like this. Everything we knew about military conflict from Mass Media can be hardly compared to what we’ve seen.

Our nation blossom, dear our defenders, patriots, dedicated to Ukraine heroes are hardly wounded and crippled. They were glad to meet us. They didn’t say a word about their pain, but joked showing indestructibility of spirit and courage that it supplied more strength, faith and energy, spread love. We embraced and kissed them as if they were from our families, our relatives, though we saw them for the first time. When I embraced these courageous men, I had the impression that they were very close to me and I didn’t want to stop embrassing them so that they felt full of strength, recovered and could come back to their families.

Every wounded hero has his own story, and it was as if I lived each of them. My deep excitement didn’t allow me to express my gratitude, the one they deserve. Hopefully, I took with me some part of their pain and brought into their life believe that we didn’t forget about them and we would remember them and support them.

I appeal to all Ukrainians not to be indifferent towards our defenders, meet and support them. The families of our warriors who are currently at the hospital also need our help and support.

… I cried a little when I went out from the hospital. I will remember this meeting all my life! We are unconquerable nation, because we have such heroes! And this is obvious. We are united, and today we do build our future!
