On the 8th of May, on the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, an activist of USPU Student Self-Government Lyubov Petrukhina represented a university during commemoration of protectors of Ukraine, Uman liberators, victims of the war, who were buried on the territory of the city. Our mayor of the city Oleksandr Tsebriy, veteran of the war Viktor Kimlach, participator in anti-terrorist operation Roman Petryshyn, and our student visited places, connected with World War II, lying down wreaths and flowers to the pedestal of the monuments.

On the 9th of May, on Victory’s Day, the delegation of the university, headed by rector, professor Oleksandr Beslyudniy, head of trade union committee Oleksandr Osadchiy participated in the meeting-requiem “Minute of Silence”, laying down flowers and wreaths to the monument Obelisk of Fame. During the solemnity our students-cadets were on guard of honour.

Red poppies, made by representatives of Institute of Economics and Business Education, History Department and Professional and Technology Education Department, were seen on breasts of the veterans, participants in events dedicated to 71st Anniversary of Victory over Nazism in Second World War.

Lecturers of the university, members of trio “Gonta”, Honoured Workers of Culture of Ukraine Valentyn Kupchyk, Vasyl Semenchuk and Petro Voloshyn participated in the concert program “Songs of Flaming Times” at the City Palace of Culture. They sang together with veterans songs “Zhuravli (Cranes)” and “Army is with people”, which were admitted by audience and caused ovations.

… In due course Victory’s Day has become not only a state holiday in Ukraine, but also a pretext to conduct different events, which teach courage, patriotism, love the Motherland, history of the nation, honour the Veterans of World War II.

Victory’s Day – is a holiday of freedom and peace.
