Members of the University Literary Association named after Mykola Bazhan are among the winners of All-Ukrainian patriotic poetry contest “Ukraine is in the edge of poetry” (regional stage), organized by regional organization National writers union of Ukraine initiated by head of Cherkasy Region Council Valentyna Kovalenko. Solemn ceremony of rewarding took place in Cherkasy teacher house with the assistance of Valentyna Kovalenko, writers and honorary people. The winners of the contest were defined in several age categories.

Our students, members of literary association, winners of the contest in different nominations were invited three times on the stage. Conditions of the participation in the contest were not easy: in short terms they should present their own works about urgent problems, actual events. The separate present, except of awards and diplomas, was presentation of the book under the title “Ukraine is in the edge of poetry”. The book contains best works of contest participators. For some authors it’s the first time that their pieces are published in such a serious book. Some printed copies will be sent to heroes in the Eastern Ukraine.

Let’s congratulate our winners! First prize in the nomination “Poetry” won a student of Ukrainian Philology Department Sofia Krymovska, third place in the same nomination won a master student of Ukrainian Philology Department Oleksandr Shaboldov, second place in the nomination “Prose” took a student of Natural Sciences and Geography Department Vyacheslav Yaremenko.

Our wonderful land of Cherkasy region, Homeland of Shevchenko, from the remotest times inspired bards and chronicles by its beauty, wealth, courage, and the main thing – by wisdom of people and dedication to Ukraine. Our students’ new successes confirm this. That’s why we wish the winners happy days and peace.
