Saint Nicholas is a miracle creator, a benefactor, a magician. Since the ancient times Ukrainians have believed in his wonders. On the night of the 19th of December, the day of his memory, he carries gifts for children, introduces the winter, gives the blessing for noble deeds. The students of the University are also getting ready for the St. Nicholas Day - one of the brightest and most joyous holidays of all Christian people. Remembering that day since the childhood as a hope for miracle each of the future teachers decided to help St. Nicholas to please the children in need.

Student Volunteers of the social and psychological aid of the University from the Department of Labour and Social Welfare of the City Council of Uman visited the "Snowdrop" Center of early rehabilitation of children with disabilities. This time the volunteers with children made ??Christmas cards and greetings with their wishes addressed to St. Nicholas.

- It was very interesting to talk to and work with the children and notice faith and happiness in their eyes. The kids of the rehabilitation center had an uncountable number of wishes. One boy prepared four messages to St. Nicholas. We help children to make cards with them and believe that their desires should be fulfilled. That is why I like to be engaged in volunteering, says Alina Yanytska, a volunteer, student of Sociology and Psychology Department.

Alvina Polushina, her friend was also excited about communication with the children:

- As always we have had a fun time in the "Snowdrop". Together with the children we wrote letters to St. Nicholas, made cards and a variety of applications. Being in the rehabilitation center for children we had an interesting adventure.

In the evening the student volunteers of the social and psychological services of the University visited the orphanage and had a hilarious masterclass on making flowers and animals with balloons.

On December the 16th the “reception” of St. Nicholas at the Sociology and Psychology Department started its work. The “reception” is open every day at every break in the new building, room 232, or in the lobby until December the 20th. Oksana Kravchenko, the Dean of the Department was the first to make a contribution into children’s expectations. Many useful gifts have been collected. Everything is accepted - the children's clothes, toys, sweets - anything to please the children on this wonderful holiday.

The students of the History Department Roman Didenko, Volodymyr Perepelyuk, Rostislav Chichkov, Konstantine Burdelnyy have initiated the "Help St. Nicholas bring joy to children" charity campaign. The students encourage everyone:

- everyone can bring joy to the others. You can try it too. Make a small contribution into the dreams of children of the Uman City Children's Hospital. After all, everyone has their dreams but the common dream is the speedy recovery. The happy atmosphere and the holiday that you create is the best for them. Become a helper of St. Nicholas - make a child’s dream come true.

The Volunteers of the History Department published the information for those who care: "The charity fundraiser for children of Uman City Children's Hospital. Boxes for fundraising are near the security booth in the central and new building of USPU".

The students and teachers of the Economics Department of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University organized “Bring joy to the child” charitable campaign which had become a tradition.

The charitable funds and gifts collected during the campaign (room № 320 by the Dean of Economics Department) will be donated to the children of the inter- Regional Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Uman on December the 19th. We are open to all volunteers.

Saint Nicholas is the image associated with high, human moral values, a deep faith in the righteousness of existence on the Earth. The students of USPU as the future of our country are doing everything possible to invite Saint Nicholas to the children deprived of parental attention and affection, warmth and comfort of a family home. It is not money but love, honesty, integrity and nobility that rule the world. Thanks to the good name of St. Nicholas, each of us can make the children deprived of parental affection fate happy. So on the magical December night we all have the ability to do something good for the others.
