On the 22nd of May 1861 Taras Shevchenko’s ashes, according to his will, were buried in Ukraine. A tradition to honor this date was revived only in 1989.

On the occasion of this anniversary were laid down flowers from the representatives of our university to the foot of the monument, situated near Ostashivskiy pond.

We can feel the poet’s words through centuries. Taras Shevchenko really found appropriate words, you can’t forget. They imprint in our minds and heart, because they display national feelings, thoughts and hopes.

Representatives of the ciy administration came to bow to Kobzar according to his “Zapovit (the Will)”.
