Over 6000 students, scientific and pedagogical workers and the other university staff participated in the ecology action “For Clean Environment”, which was held in the framework of All-Ukrainian events dedicated to Environment Protection Day.

Students and workers of our educational establishment (representatives from all the universities and the Institute) participated in the actions, connected with cleaning territories of Uman, in particular: Shevchenko and Cherniakhovskiy parks, university buildings 1-3, agrarian biology station, etc.

There were cleaned 22 hectares under territories of administrative buildings, and at 12 hectares about 3000 trees, over 600 bushes, grass plots, flowerbeds, 26 unlawful scrap heaps. In particular, at agrarian biology station there were sown marigolds and the other flowers; formed crowns of trees at lilac lane; cleaned museum’s “Plants – symbols of Ukraine” territory from garbage.

It is well-known that one of the main reasons of bad health is environmental pollution, which caused spoiling the quality of drinking water as a main nutrient. European Commission enlisted Ukraine to countries with low limits of water supplies according to drinking water per inhabitant. Therefore, our university teaches how to keep nature’s law and change our consumer’s attitude towards water. In spring USPU nature protectors have cleaned 13 sources and 100 meter riverside line. Our surrounding nature should be protected!
