On September 24, our university was connected to the external network IPv6 in test mode. We were the first in Uman and the first higher education institution in Ukraine that had implemented new technology to connect with "new" Internet.

This protocol opens new routing and connection with the global network. At present, the global network has a problem of compatibility of old and new protocols, that caused a division of the Internet into two independent networks. The leading countries of the world have already worked according to the new standard, but still have access through the old protocol. A massive disconnection from IPv4 to stimulate the development of new technology will be in the near future. It is difficult stage for Ukraine, because 90% of the national network uses an old technology. The main reason is the use of old equipment that can not work with IPv6.

Today we have the connection IPv4 and IPv6 of external networks, and also work on implementation of this protocol into university local network. University site is accessible from IPv4 and IPv6, if you have both connections and the priority is IPv6.

http://ipv6.udpu.org.ua/ – this address can be accessed only with IPv6.
http://test-ipv6.ru/ – here you can check the possibility of your connection to IPv6.
http://[2a01:d0:858a:77::17]/ – IPv6 IP-address of university Web-site.

Довідково: Pv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) - a new version of IP-Protocol - IP version 6. The most significant difference between IPv4 and IPv6 is that earlier in the Internet address allocated 4 bytes (32 bits), that correspond to the standard for today 4 blocked IP, and IPv6 protocol provides 16 bytes for the address (128 bits). This corresponds to 340 trillion trillion trillion addresses (3,4x1038) or 5x1028 addresses for each person (Wikipedia).
