2013-2014 academic year began with a pleasant event for the students of Uman State Pedagogical University - a trip to Kaniv, the ancient city of Cherkasy Oblast. On September the 2d about 50 students of Sociology and Psychology Department, Arts and Pedagogics Department and History Department visited one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. The trip was connected with the opening of the Kaniv Institute of Humanities of Pavlo Tychyna Uman Pedagogical University. After the short but bright official part, the University students enjoyed a fascinating tour of the city. Even the weather which was sometimes not quite pleasant didn’t worsen the mood.

The students were shown the historical sites of the city, the ancient cathedral, the Kaniv Hydro Power Station and the water reservoir. But the excursion to Taras Hill where the students were able to feel the special spirit of this holy place and take memorable pictures was very special. The students were allowed to see the museum of Taras Shevchenko and it was a pleasant surprise as Monday is usually a day off, but for the students the museum administration made ??an exception.

The hospitable residents of Kaniv treated the delegation with a delicious dinner before the students left for Uman, all well fed and happy.

Students are very grateful to the administration of the University and the trade union committee for the opportunity to contribute into such an important event and explore the holy places with their hearts, to worship the Great Taras on the eve of his 200th anniversary.
