On April 28-29, a number of online meetings aimed at acquainting youth with the ways of professional growth, education and career opportunities in the European space were held at the Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University as part of the EU Career Days 2021, initiated by the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine.

For two days, the participants have been discussing the topics that revealed the topical and practical issues of educational and professional European integration.

The youth had the opportunity to learn about international educational programs and practical experience of students and teachers who participated in these programs, to hear about the importance of digital competence - how to develop it. The participants also learned about "soft skills" and why future specialists need these skills, got acquainted with the experience of students who were the first to pave the "paths" to study in Poland, and how it affected their future lives.

In the framework of the EU Career Days in Uman 2021, the participants joined three thematic trainings. The first training highlighted the problem of barriers to communication and practical tips for overcoming them. The second training discussed the European experience of Early Intervention, how this experience is implemented in Ukraine, and a practical task. And on the last one – the businessmen shared their experience of creating startups, told about the reverse side of success, where to start and what competencies to develop.

Thanks to all guests, speakers, coaches and all those who took part in the "EU Career Days in Uman 2021".

EU Career Day is implemented within the framework of the project "Information Support of EU Networks in Ukraine". The event takes place annually in more than 15 cities of Ukraine for the last five years. EU Career Day is a series of public events where representatives of EU Networks and all active and interested citizens can share their views, experiences of the implementation of EU standards and practices in Ukraine, can take part in EU programs to develop new business and educational opportunities, to discuss trends in the labor market, in particular in terms of the knowledge and skills that a young person needs to make a successful career.

During the event, guests learn: about the dissemination of the principles and approaches of the European Union in the fields of youth employment, lifelong learning, as well as the priorities of social and economic development of the EU; about the best practices of interaction of higher educational institutions with employers for forecasting the needs for knowledge and skills; discuss current trends in the labor market and the knowledge and skills that employers expect from future employees; trainings will help participants develop soft skills, such as communication skills, cooperation, self-presentation and job search, emotional intelligence, etc.
