Under the agreement between Ukraine and Israel to expand cooperation in scientific and educational spheres in Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University Ukrainian-Israeli Center for Education, Science and Culture was established.

The appropriateness of Ukrainian-Israeli Center creation was caused by several factors. In particular, the regional factor: Uman is a city of religious pilgrimage and Israeli culture studying is important for successful cooperation in this area, also it is very important to develop such a direction as Orientology, which envisages specialization "Hebrew" within the philologist training opening.

University administration met with Israeli representatives to outline the prospects of Ukrainian-Israeli cooperation on the 24th of May. Head of the Jewish Agency "Sokhnut-Ukraine" Bilana Shahar and ex-Consul of Israel Embassy in Ukraine, president of travel company "Rondo" Mikhael Kaspi took part in the discussion.

Ukrainian side was represented by the Rector of the University doctor of pedagogical sciences, corresponding member of Ukrainian NAPS prof. Natalya S. Pobirchenko, director of Ukrainian-Israeli Center of Education, Science and Culture in University Assoc. prof. Natalya A. Tsymbal, coordinator of University international activity Assoc. prof. Oksana A. Zabolotna.




The subject of discussion was the educational and scientific cooperation between University and Israeli universities, organizing of various events to promote the cultural heritage of Israeli people.

It was noted the special role of Uman in the history of Ukrainian Jewry, announced plans to open specialty "Hebrew" in University and the possibility of students of specialty 'Tourism" practical training in the firm "Rondo".




The participants outlined the nearest plans for the cooperation and agreed the next meeting.
