Students of 22 group of History Department travelled to one of the most beautiful cities of Europe – ancient Lviv. The trip was organized with the aim of patriotic upbringing of students. Lviv was a good choice, buildings of central part of the city, built by the best architects from Europe, are enlisted to UNESCO’s heritage.

Students traveled through interesting and amazing history of Lviv. They got acquainted with the best examples of Ukrainian, Polish, Armenian, German, Austrian and the other cultures.

The acquaintance with Lviv began from its heart – Rynok Square. Each of the buildings amazed and delighted students, especially its city hall in the cenral tower, surrounded by fountains and sculptures of Greek Gods.

Students visited architectural monument to XIX century is among one of the most beautiful heatres in Europe – Solomia Krushelnytska Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

The Armenian Cathedral of St. Maria, Dominican church, Latin cathedral church in gothic style, Boimy chapel, orthodox church, Lviv statue of liberty, Lviv university are among the places which where visited by historians.

Students got a lot of impressions from museums in Lviv. One of them was Museum of national architecture and life, created in 1971 on the purpose to save wooden things and examples of national arts in the end of the XIX beginning of the XX century.

Students-historians visited also historical museums. Exposition of the department “Historical Treasures” amazed by precious exhibits, but what students remembered the best was a melody from music box “Symphonion” of the end of XIX century. After – a unique museum, which doesn’t have analogues in Ukraine – Arsenal. The girls and the boys got acquainted with the other expositions of Lviv Historical Museum.

A special part during excursion took museum-memorial of victims of occupation regimes “Prison on Lontskyi”, situated in the building of prison. In different times organs of different punitive authorities were situated here: Polish, Soviet and German. This is the first in Ukraine museum-prison.

In Lviv students visited monuments to famous historical figures: Taras Shevchenko, king Danylo Galytskyi, Adam Mickevych, Ivan Franko, metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi, painter Nykyfor Drovniak and the others.

Students also liked a performance by Orest Ogorodnyck “The last buckwheat sower”, which they watched at Maria Zankovetska Theatre. It was a story about ourselves, what we do when money become the most important for us.

Historians were at one of the largest necropolis in Europe – Lychakivskyi cemetery, built in 1786.

Students have visited the other interesting objects. Among them: High castle with rooms of antic and European arts, Lviv gallery of arts in Pototskyi Palace, Palace of Scientists, 3-D cinema, famous Lviv coffee houses, chocolate workshops, etc.

This trip presented students a lot of impressions!
