Today, on International Museum Day, mostly museums admit visitors free of charge, demonstrating their expositions. This holiday has been celebrated at Nature and Geography Department, were there are functioning 2 museums – M.F. Koval Zoology Museum; Geology and Geography Museum of Eurasia.

Since early morning there were excursions for pupils of Uman school №8 and for foreign students of our university.

Since its foundation (23rd January, 2015) zoology museum have visited not only our university students, but pupils of the city and the district, guests from the other universities, members of the city ecology and nature centre, students of medical colleges, etc.

The university’s museums play an important part in contemporary development of ideas about nature, problems of interrelations of people with environment, and also propaganda of natural resources rational use.

We invite all ones who wish to visit these museums!

M.F. Koval Zoology Museum collaborates with National Zoology Museum of NAPS in Kyiv, Uman Museum of Regional Ethnography and the other zoology museums of Ukraine. Its collection enlists at about 400 species of spinal and invertebrate animals: fishes, reptiles, birds, mammals, sponges, jellies, arthropods, worms, etc. The museum is proud of its unique collection of tropical butterflies and the other kinds of insects; the collection always enriches.

Zoology Museum is actively used by students for laboratory and practical lessons. It is a basis for scientific and research work of researchers, PhD students and the other students; it is often used for conducting of different level Olympiads in biology and ecology.

On the basis of scientific and geology laboratory from the 7th of May 2014 was created a structural subdivision “Geology and Geography Museum of Eurasia”. The exposition of the museum enlists at about 400 samples of mineral resources and rocks from different parts of Eurasia.

Scientific work of the museum is not limited by Uman and Uman district.

A great progress of the museum is creation of data base in sea geology, which consists of 4 data bases: personnel who works under geological investigations; bibliography of scientific works; results of expeditionary investigations and trips to area of oceanic water; base of actual material. This data base is especially valuable, as its results are introduced at scientific establishments.
