The National Student Drama and Comedy Theatre of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University was founded in 2000 on the initiative of Natalia Pobirchenko who was heading the Institute of Social and Arts education at the time, and is currently the Rector of the University. In 2004, the Theater was awarded the title of "People’s Theater." The Theatre is the winner of the regional competition of performing arts and the International student theater. The repertory of the Theater is enriched each year, including the performances based on the works by Ukrainian classics: "Kaydasheva family", "Natalka Poltavka", "In fashion", "Nazar Stodolia", "Courtship in Goncharovka", "The Hireling" and many others. For many years the Theater has been headed by Natalia Alexeeva - the talented Director. Each creative performance in the Theater thrills the audience and gives everyone good mood. It is amazing that all actors are the students who put down the lectures and take part in the seminars in everyday life. But they transform on the stage and become unrecognizable. In May the “Dialogue of Cultures and Peoples" International Festival will take place in the Polish city of Leszno. The representatives of the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine and Germany will be taking part in it. Ukraine will be represented by our University ensembles, including the National Theatre. During the preparation for the international "tour" the troupe has rehearsed the excerpts from the famous plays of the Ukrainian classics.

So the other day the Drama and Comedy Theatre of the Primary Education Department exhibited their performances to the students and teachers of USPU in the assembly hall of the University. Those were the excerpts from the famous works "Chasing Two Hares" by Mikhailo Staritskiy and "Beztalanna" by Ivan Karpenko-Kary.

But the highlight of the “spring” was the episode "Languages ??of various countries” played in Polish. We hope that the demanding Polish audience and participants of the International Festival will also appreciate it, and they do not even expect it - it's going to be a surprise from our actors.

Dmytro Baldynyuk, the Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Olexandr Osadchiy, the Vice - Rector for Social Affairs, the trade union Chairman, Borys Yakymchuk, the Dean of primary education Department greeted the Theater troupe with the successful opening season.
