Every year on the International Day of Forests (celebrated on the 21st of March) specialists all over the world discuss problems concerning forest, its ecologic role and using of wood resources, etc. Forest means not only trees. Forest is a natural complex, which has own connection and rules of nature. But the global cutting down the woods can lead to negative consequences.

Our nature security guards try to prevent a tragic danger. A forester Petro Shevchuk invited our students to participate in a nature protection action “Plant a Forest”, which was held on the 1st of April in the framework of celebrating the International Day of Forests.

The action was organized by scientific and research laboratory “Ecology and Education”, headed by professor Svitlana Sovhira. The organizers pursued three aims: 1) scientific – to discover conditions of trees growing by diagonal method; 2) educational – to master techniques of planting hornbeam, maple, and birch; 3) educative – to bring up love to nature and multiply its richness.

Thus, II year students of Nature and Geography Department together with students of Uman Pedagogical College, pupils of Uman school №3 (in action participated 60 persons) planted young trees of ash, maple and birch. In general, above 500 trees were planted.

A nature protection action “Plant a Forest” became a tradition for USPU students and united people who care about natural potential of our land. Nowadays it is very important to preserve and multiply woods. Those who is indifferent and doesn’t respect wood infringes law on nature protection, in particular, article 20 of Law of Ukraine “About Protection of Air” and article 27 of Law of Ukraine “About Plants”.

Don’t forget that forests’ future is or future!
