The Chair of Geography and methods of teaching geography at Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University and the Chair of Geography at Vinnitsa State Pedagogical University have been cooperating with "Zavallya Graphite Works" JSC for a long time. Recently, there was a meeting initiated by Oleksiy Sytnyk, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor of Geography and methods of teaching at USPU with "Zavallya Graphite Works" JSC. They discussed the excursions of the students of both universities to the graphite quarry and the processing factory of Zavallya graphite plant, the Zavallya (Savransk) HPS. The training and field practice also presumes organizing the tours. Agreement also warrants an access to the archival materials for the students writing dissertations. During the working visit the participants learned about the economic situation of the plant, the prospects for its further development in the complex environment and discussed the possibility of employment at the enterprise.





Another activity of the Nature and Geography Department for the second year students was “The Buky Canyon is the pearl of the Cherkasy Oblast” onsite scientific workshop on geomorphology. It was held with the support of the Chair of Geography and methods of teaching on the initiative of Associate Professor Oleksiy Sytnyk with teachers and students of Buky School of Mankivka Raion according to the program of events dedicated to the days of science. The purpose of the workshop was to examine the characteristics of the formation and structure of the Girskiy Tikych River Canyon nearby Buki town and possibilities of its use for recreational purposes. The workshop reviewed the geological structure of the territory of the Mankivka area and the formation of the Buky Canyon; relief formation at the Girskiy Tikych River; recreational potential of the Buky Canyon and the possibility of its use, and landscape diversity of the Girskiy Tikych valley. The students also enjoyed “The Buky Canyon is the pearl of the Cherkasy Oblast” educational excursion.
