The solemn commemoration of the scientific achievements of young and venerable scientists of USPU is a good tradition. Every time it is done in the solemn atmosphere at the University. The student choir in robes appears on the stage to the sounds of fanfares and anthem.

Starting the ceremony, Natalia Pobirchenko, the Rector of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University, Professor said, "May 2014 abounds with celebrations within the VIII nationwide festival of science. Recently, we have heard the sounds of fanfares in honor of the professional holiday of scientists in our University, and now we have a good opportunity to congratulate colleagues who train highly qualified personnel, provide academic and international cooperation and boost the reputation of the institution. I have the honor and great pleasure to say, the Days of Science continue at the University!". The meetings of the Solemn Academy prove that science in Pavlo Tychyna USPU is prospering!

To continue congratulating the people on their creative achievements, Olena Yaroshynska, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work, Associate Professor, named the colleagues who defended a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Sciences by the decision of the Certifying Board as a result of the research work. Natalia Semenivna awarded Diplomas to Tetiana Kochubey, Natalia Kolyada, the Vice Rector for Research and Education, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of social pedagogy, social work and history of pedagogy, scientific secretary of the specialized academic council of the University, Andriy Tereshchuk, the Associate Professor of the Chair of Physics and Astronomy and methods of teaching, Oksana Zabolotna, the Vice-Chancellor on International Activities.

The conference participants sincerely congratulated the following people on the defense of the theses and obtaining Diplomas of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences: Svitlana Cymbal – Slatvinska, the Head of career development and career guidance department, Olena Tkachenko, the teacher of the Chair of Enterprise Economics, Finance, Accounting and Auditing (her supervisor is Anatoliy Muzychenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor), Svitlana Zayets, the teacher of the Chair of Social Pedagogy, Social Work and History of Pedagogy (her supervisor is Natalia Pobirchenko, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, corresponding member of NAPS of Ukraine), Liliya Krutchenko, the teacher of the Chair of Physics and Astronomy and Methods of Teaching (her supervisor is Andriy Tereshchuk, Dr. of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor).

On the occasion of the Science Day Honorary Diploma of Cherkasy Regional State Administration was awarded to Tetiana Kuznets, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Dean of the History Department, Zinaida Svyaschenko, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of World History and Law, Andriy Tereshchuk, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of the Chair of Physics and Astronomy and methods of teaching, Zoya Syrota, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Chair of Music. They were invited to the stage.

For significant scientific achievements, contributions into the theory and methodology of scientific research, upgrading scientific achievements of Uman, many years of fruitful work and on the occasion of the Day of Sciences, the teachers of the University Liudmyla Chvertko, a PhD, Associate Professor of the Chair of Enterprise Economics, Finance, Accounting and Auditing and Nadiya Remezovska, the Head of the Foreign Citizens Department, were awarded with Honorable Diplomas of Uman City Council.

Oleksandr Osadchiy, the Vice-Rector for Social Affairs, Head of the Trade Union, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor invited on the stage Oksana Zabolotna, Professor of the Foreign Languages Department, international coordinator of the University and Olga Mishchuk, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor, for awarding with the Honorary Diploma of Cherkasy Oblast Union of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Honorary award was given to Maria Krayeva, the Master student of the Sociology and Psychology Department who won in the "Ukraine - Germany: intercultural dialogue" nationwide contest of student youth. (The contest was initiated by the "Vidershtral" center of German culture supported by the German Embassy in Ukraine, the Goethe Institute in Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The financial support was provided by the Federal Government of Germany. After a careful selection of contest works, the jury chose the winners in various categories. Maria was the winner in the "Literature and language" category). Her scientific supervisors, Oksana Zabolotna, Professor of the Foreign Languages Department, international coordinator of the University and Oksana Kravchenko, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, also received the gratitude for the support and help.

The Solemn Academy has started a new tradition - awarding the winners of the best website of the structural units of the University, teachers and students. Now the website of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University combines about 50 sub-sites of various organizational units of the University. The designers, site administrators responsible for the content in 2013-2014 year have achieved good results. Our sites have become an integral part of the educational environment of the University, Cherkasy Oblast and Ukraine. In the Webometrics world ranking of University websites we are on the 41 position among the universities in Ukraine. We have risen in the rankings by nearly 100 points over the past year.

In the category of “Best website of the Department” certificates and prizes were awarded to the developers of websites – Sociology and Psychology Department (first place), Arts and Pedagogics Department (second place), Economics Department (third place). In the "Best student website" category the first place was given to the student portal website developers of the Arts and Pedagogics Department, the second place was awarded to the developers of the site of student social and psychological services, the third place in this category was given to the developers of the USPU student portal website. They all received Certificates and prizes. We wish them inspiration, optimism and meet and further victories. They should make their websites interesting and informative.
