Seven of the eight Uman boxers were winners at the boxing tournament which was held in Vinnytsia and was devoted to the memory of an outstanding coach Anatoliy Valchuk. Among them there were Yaroslav Petrychenko and Andriy Smyrnov - our freshmen of Physical Training Department, members of the youth teams of Ukraine. Both are masters of sport in boxing.

Yaroslav won the second place in the weight category of 69 kg. But the true value of that silver was invaluable for him! Our Yaroslav was fighting with Oleksiy Tokarchuk, the boxer number 1 in the team of Ukraine, master of sports, a bronze medal winner at the World Cup Championship. Their battle was a real something, the masters of sports never gave a break to each other; the battle was fierce and exciting. Although he lost, Yaroslav had been fighting in a dignified manner. He owes his skills to the "Ring" boxing club at the University, and Victor Petrychenko, his personal trainer, also a graduate of USPU.

Andriy Smirnov participated in the weight category of 60 kg, had two fights and got gold. This is not the first victory of his. On his list there is the first place in the championship of Ukraine among school children (2009), bronze in Ukrainian "strongest tournament" in 2010. And in 2011 Andriy won a bronze medal in the championship of Ukraine, became the champion of the International Tournament in Khmelnytsky.

Yaroslav Petrychenko and Andriy Smyrnov have many battles ahead. We wish them future victories and excellent skills. By the way, today the university boxing club trains about 100 young men of different ages. It's nice that the coaching staff of the "Ring" also consists of our graduates Victor Kabanov and Oleg Kovalika.
