In Cherkassy was held Cherkassy Region Championship among the youth from 1998-1999 year of birth. In the competitions participated 102 boxers and 13 teams from Cherkassy. Uman was represented by 23 sportsmen, among them – a first-year student of Physical Training Department at Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University Oleksiy Khmelyuk.

He had success in the weight category up to 91 kg and won the competition. Therefore, Oleksiy will soon represent Cherkassy region at Championship of Ukraine, which takes place in Kharkiv.
