On the 19th of March, the day before 85th anniversary of Lina Kostenko, a queen of Ukrainian modern lierature, and World Day of Poetry at Ukrainian Philology Department was held a regional competition of T. Shevchenko’s poetry reciters.

In the event participated pupils of 9th – 11th forms of Uman and Uman region general education schools, and first year – third year students of USPU.

The reciters’ declamations were estimated by the competent jury, which consisted of workers of scientific and research laboratory “Theatre of Word” and lecturers of Ukrainian Philology Department: Valentyna Goncharuk – candidate of pedagogical sciences, assistant professor; Natalia Mamchur – candidate of pedagogical sciences, assistant professor, deputy dean in educational work; lecturers Oleksandr Sanivskyi and Volodymyr Yaremchuk and competition’s coordinator, seniour lecturer Inna Kravchenko.

At about 30 young reciters demonstrated their high skills in reading.

In the competition have won:

I place: Anastasia Pavlenko (Uman educational complex “Yu. Gagarin General educational school of I-II stages – pedagogical lycee”, teacher – V. M. Kravets), Alyona Mandzyuk (Ukrainian Philology Department of USPU);

II place – Oleksandr Bondarenko (Uman educational complex “Yu. Gagarin General educational school of I-II stages – pedagogical lycee”, teacher – A. F. Chuhriy), Mykhailo Mischuck (Uman Children and Youth House of Creative Work, teacher – G. V. Gorodnyuk), Katarina Zachepa (Ukrainian Philology Department of USPU), Katarina Bogevych (Arts and Pedagogics Department of USPU, supervisor – I. A. Denysyuk);

III place: Anastasia Sichkar (O. S. Pushkin Uman general educational school № 1, teacher – G. S. Kozachenko), Sofia Kolesnyck (Kosenivskyi educational complex, teacher – L. V. Kolesnyck), Tetyana Okhrimenko (Ukrainian Philology Department of USPU).

All the participators got decorations, and winners received presents.
