March 28 the Arts and Pedagogics Department of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University held "The artistic heritage of Taras Shevchenko as national patriotic education of future teachers of artistic disciplines" nationwide scientific and practical conference. The co-organizers of the conference were Kaniv Institute of Humanities, Institute of Teacher Education and Adult Education at NAPS of Ukraine, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, Sumy State A.S. Makarenko Pedagogical University, Uman Pedagogical College of Humanities named after T.G. Shevchenko, Shevchenko specialized boarding school with advanced study of humanitarian and aesthetic disciplines. The following honorable people were speaking at the conference: Olena Yaroshynska, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work, Associate Professor, Head of the Research Laboratory of Pedagogical Competence, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, doctoral student, Olena Dudnyk, Director of the Child Development Institute, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Dean of Arts and Pedagogics Department.
The conference was continued by the leading scientists who discussed the current issues of the role and place of Shevchenko in the national and patriotic education of the contemporary youth. The reports "Artistic Heritage of Shevchenko as a source of creative self-development of future teacher of art disciplines" and "The life of Taras Shevchenko as a model of civic culture" were of great value and interest.
In the frames of the conference Liubov Mishchenko, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Associate Professor of Fine Arts and Music at Kaniv Institute of Humanities presented a solo exhibition in the lobby of the University building number 3 at USPU. (By the way, this exhibition will be presented in the exhibition hall of the "Stara Uman" State Historical and Cultural Reserve at the end of April once again). The Delegates also reviewed the exhibition of art works of the participants of “Shevchenko in my heart” contest which involved the students from Kaniv Institute of Humanities at Pavlo Tychyna USPU as well as students from Uman art school for children, Zvenygorod children's art school, and secondary schools in the city and region.
After the plenary session there was a presentation of "Taras Shevchenko as a poet, artist and thinker" artistic and educational project. The authors are Zoya Syrota, the Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Chair of Music, Vsevolod Sirota, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Chair of Fine Arts, Nadiya Baldynyuk, Senior lecturer of the Chair of Music, Vasyl Semenchuk, lecturer of the Chair of Music, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Lyudmila Androshchuk, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Head of the Chair of Choreography and Artistic Culture, Olga Musyka, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of Fine Arts.
Another creative highlight was a master class in singing and presenting practical component of "Numerous poetic images of T.G. Shevchenko in Ukrainian vocal art" by Nadiya Baldynyuk, the senior lecturer in music and workshop presentation of choral art and practical component of "Promotion of creative heritage of Taras Shevchenko in traditional choral art" by Vasyl Semenchuk, the Associate Professor of music.
