Students of Hitory Depatment took part in celebrating 365 anniversary of Ukrainian Cossacks State formation. The event took place on the territory of Cossacks capital – city of Chyhyryn.

The celebration was opened with church service for independent Ukraine and Ukrainian Cossacks health in St. Petro and Pavlo Church. In the public pray took part head of Cherkasy Regional State Administration Yuriy Tkachenko, head of Regional Council Valentyna Kovalenko, head assistants of Regional State Administration, heads of District State Administrations and District State Councils.

Our university delegation together with all event participators climbed Bogdan Mountain and laid the flowers on Bogdan Khmelnytsky memorial. The head of Regional State Administration congratulated on 365 anniversary of Ukrainian Cossacks State formation on behalf of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and read a letter written by Prime-Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsynyuk.

After History Department Students visited Bogdan Khmelnytsky museum and bastion remains under the guidance of dean’s assistants in educational work Olga Skus and Antonina Kukuruza. Some parts of Chyhyryn fortress of XVII reminded the youth about Cossacks country’s past. From Chyhyryn they went to Subotiv, a birthplace of Khmelnutsky where they visited the hetman’s estate. Illinska church was of great interest; it was built during the war and served as defensive works and after hetman’s tomb.

History Department students are grateful to the university administration and in particular our rector, professor Nataliya Pobirchenko for the given possibility to visit hetman capital on 365 anniversary of Ukrainian Cossacks State formation.
