Student Drama and Comedy Theatre of Pavlo Tychyna USPU celebrates the 14 years anniversary. The 14 spring of this creative team sparkles with new performances and excellent acting. Natalia Alexeeva, a true supporter of theatrical arts has been working with the theater all those years. Being a supervisor and director, feeling the strong support of the University administration, she directs the work of the theater on the way of the development of creative abilities in students as well as introduction of classical drama to the Ukrainian youth.

Recently, the theatre has marked the 10th anniversary of the status of “National” with a new performance. The theater amateurs enjoyed a performance based on "In fashion" play by Mykhailo Starytsky. It was remarkable just because student - actors were very famous in our University. So it was a pleasure and delight to see the smiles on the faces of the audience. The roles were masterfully played by Oleksandr Shcherbakov, the Primary Education Department student (as Gavrylo Potapovych Varenyk), Larysa Saulyak, the Primary Education Department student (as Oryna Vlasivna Dzvonarska), Olena Markovska, the Primary Education Department student (as Zinka), Tetiana Bondarchuk, the leading expert of the Educational Work Department (as Perepetuya Samsonivna Dembytska), Andriy Spanatiy, the student of the Nature and Geography Department (as Ovsiy), Vira Prytuliak, the student of the Primary Education Department (Natalka), Oleg Sytnyk, the student of the Physics and Mathematics Department (as Sisoy), Natalia Shkunyda, the student of the Primary Education Department (as Vivdya), students of the Nature and Geography Department Tetiana Florina, students of the Primary Education Department (Oleksandr Matveyev, Anna Kudla, Olena Dihtyaruk, Fedir Bucur, Natalia Korkots, a student of the History Department (Daryna Riabokon) (as boys and girls). Yaroslav Bokal was the sound producer.

The Anniversary performance was presented for the teachers, the students and the guests of honor (Natalia Pobirchenko, the Chancellor of the University, corresponding member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor, Dmytro Baldynyuk, the Vice-Chancellor for Humanitarian Affairs, Oleksandr Osadchiy, the Chairman of the Trade Union of the University, Associate Professor and Department Deans. Natalia Semenivna, The Chancellor of the University appreciated the play of the actors and the genuinely enthusiastic skill of each of them. The audience supported her. Therefore, Diplomas and flowers were presented to Natalia Alexeeva, the Director of the Theater and all the actors who sacrificed their free time preparing amazing surprises for the theatre amateurs.

The actors truly managed to show the energy of Ukrainian drama, inexhaustible potential of comedy and tragedy conveyed in the original plays. This was especially important for the young audience. It was an insight into the world of theater presented so thoughtfully, emotionally and expressively enough to impress the audience. The devotion of actors is amazing; it is obvious that not only the Starytsky works but also the atmosphere of those past epochs is passing through their souls.

The guests wished the theater whose history began in 1999 further improvements and success. It was founded at the initiative of Natalia Pobirchenko, the Chancellor of the University who was the Dean of Pedagogics Department at that time. In 2000, the first premiere of "Kaydasheva family" attracted the audience. The repertoire of the theatre is replenished with new performances. Now, the theatre is proud of the following "Kaydasheva family" (by I.Nechuy- Levitsky), "Chasing Two Hares" ( by M. Starytsky), "In fashion" (by M. Starytsky), "Kateryna" (by T. Shevchenko),"Natalka Poltavka"(by I. Kotlyarevskyi),"Nazar Stodolya"(by T.Shevchenko),"The Hireling"(by Karpenko -Kary),"Courtship in Goncharovka" (by G. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko). The plays are not new but they are still relevant because their authors are contemporaries of many generations of readers and spectators. Their creations submerge one into the depths of the human person, leaving the space for future interpretation and rehearsal in the third millennium.

During the 14 years the theater team was replenished with new talented students from different Departments. The audience was fascinated with Zoya Chernega, Ivan Kozlovsky, Igor Shepelyak, Vitaly Sagun, Olena Vydryk, Yana Panasiuk, Denys Marchuk and others. The students Oleksandr Patara, Yuriy Slobodyanyuk, Tetiana Shulga, Ivan Soltusenko, teachers Maksym Kylymystyy and Galyna Drozdenko are also the actors of the theatre.

The Student National Theatre of USPU is the winner of the regional competitions, winner of the "Shalantuh 2006" International Competition, it took part in the international festival of cultures and peoples in the Polish city of Leszno in 2013. The theater is an active participant in the University, city, regional festivals and concerts. It performs an entertaining role in the local schools because the pupils are delighted to see the theatrical plays that spark their interest in becoming the University students to join the theatre team.
