On 1 May 2024, the Faculty of Foreign Languages presented a report on the foreign internship at Michigan State University (USA) and participation in the TESOL-2024 Convention (Tampa, Florida). The report was provided by Associate Professors of the Department of English and Methodology Olha Sushkevych, PhD in Philology, and Olena Bevz, PhD in Education.
First, Olha Sushkevych shared with the audience the experience of her internship at Michigan State University, which took place from 8 to 20 March 2024. In her report, she outlined the purpose of her stay and its stages. In particular, she spoke about the peculiarities of language and methodological training of English teachers at the University's English Language Centre, as well as current trends in language teaching. Particular attention was paid to the peculiarities of the material and technical support of the educational process in US higher education institutions and the capabilities of the library. In addition, the cultural component of the internship was highlighted, in particular visits to the Refugee Centre, the Ukrainian School in Detroit, as well as the Michigan Supreme Court and the Capitol.
Associate Professor of the Department of English and Methodology Olena Bevz analysed the topics of the reports of the participants of one of the most important annual events in the field of teaching English as a foreign language - the TESOL-2024 Convention, which took place this year from 20 to 24 March in Tampa, USA, and brought together representatives from all over the world to share experiences and discuss current achievements and prospects for further development of the industry. In addition, Olena Bevz presented the principles of mindfulness in learning, in particular, breathing practices.
