April 26 is the sad anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe, a mourning day for many people. It happened 28 years ago in April 1986. Chernobyl is not only a tragedy, but also a symbol of boundless courage of many thousands of our countrymen. Over the years the acute pain gets dulled, new generation comes and it knows less and less about the terrible essence of the Chernobyl disaster and the people who sacrificed their lives to the atomic monster.


April 23 an open lecture for students of Physics and Mathematics Department dedicated to the Day of memory of Chornobyl tragedy was held in the reading room number 3. Mykola Palyvoda, the liquidator at Chernobyl accident, a Colonel was invited to the meeting. During the lecture he told much interesting and scaring about the Chernobyl disaster, the people who heroically sacrificed their lives and health to eliminate the consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe, thereby encouraging the young people to preserve our environment and what we have.



The students with all the people present at the meeting honored the memory of those killed in the Chernobyl accident with a moment of silence.

April 24 the meeting with the students of History Department was attended by Yuriy Berezovsky, the Chairman of "Chernobyl Union" Uman district organization and Mykola Bogdanovych, the liquidator of the Chernobyl accident, a Colonel. The plaintive story of the tragic events of 28 years ago, steadfast patriotism and strong willingness to fight the invisible enemy could not leave anyone indifferent.




Wishes of good health, optimism and life of prosperity from Tetiana Kuznets, the Department Dean and sincere applause from the students expressed a genuine gratitude to the heroes for their feat.

On April 25 the students of History Department paid tribute to the victims with a moment of silence at the monument to the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident.


Blessed be the memory of all who lost their lives in Chernobyl. Sincere gratitude and good wishes of health and respect of the society and the country to those who survived.
