On June 4th Uman celebrated "Cherkasy. Milestones of the History “ festival dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Cherkasy Oblast.

The celebration began in the morning. In the city park there was the exhibition of works by masters of arts and crafts named "For You, my Cherkasy Oblast." For the visitors it offered the master classes conducted by the teachers, masters and students of USPU - Natalya Dubova, Liliya Krutchenko, Valentina Kharitonova, Vitaliy Potapkin, Olga Musyka, Volodymyr Lopushan, Olena Pobirchenko, Anatoliy Korol, Yevdokiya Badanyuk, Tetiana Hudzenko, Olena Nesterenko and Ivan Mnohodyetniy.

In the afternoon, the delegation headed by Natalia Pobirchenko, the University Rector participated in the opening ceremony held in the City House of Culture. The ceremony took place with the participation of the distinguished guests: Tetiana Pritchenko, the Deputy Head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, managers of Khrystynivka area that brought the symbols of the festival – the book of glory and the towel of unity. There were the representatives of Uman headed by Mayor Yuriy Bodrov, among them - Natalia Mamchur - Ph.D., senior lecturer in Ukrainian literature and ethnology of USPU, famous master of embroidery. She is an author of the designer pattern typical for our region that will be embroidered on the unity towel of the anniversary.

The festive mood of the audience was supported by the performances of ensembles of the University, participating in cultural events: "Visavi" Amateur modern dance ensemble (Director - Lyudmila Androschuk), "Yavoryna" National Folk Dance Ensemble (Director - Sergey Kutsenko), "Gonta" male vocal trio (Director - Kupchyk Valentin).
