An international academic competition in English has become a notable event in the educational life of the city. The pupils from Uman as well as Gniezno participate in this competition. This competition emphasizes the common interests of children in Poland and Ukraine, shows a high level of interest in learning English. The competition is a joint initiative of educators of the sister cities, supported by education departments of both cities as well as Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Poznan.

In the first round of competition which began on 21 March with the participation of the Polish pupils of the fourth and fifth grade of elementary school № 3 named St. Adalbert (Gniezno), the Ukrainian pupils of the secondary school № 14 and education center № 24 (city of Uman). The teachers of the Institute of Oriental Culture, teachers Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (Poland) and the Foreign Languages ??Department at Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University (Ukraine) provide an independent examination.

The first round tasks were made by Ukrainian and Polish teachers and the second round tasks involved the representatives of both universities. We wish the participants success and regardless of who will win, we express the hope that it will build an intelligent young future of Europe.
