The Arts and Pedagogics Department at USPU held "Conservation and Development of Ukrainian folk dance" nationwide scientific and methodical seminar, organized and conducted by the Chair of Choreography and Arts. The workshop was attended by the representatives of the eight Oblasts of Ukraine, including: Cherkasy, Odesa, Vinnytsya, Chernigiv, Khmelnytsky, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Kirovohrad.

It should be noted that such events in the sphere of art have become a good tradition at the University. They are aimed at a revolutionized study of artistic disciplines, exchange of the creative experience with the purpose of improving the contemporary art education.

During the Art Forum the following key issues were highlighted and discussed: Ukrainian folk dance as a means of shaping an artistic personality of the future teacher of choreography; Ukrainian national dance culture as a source of creative potential for future teachers of dance; Ukrainian folk dance in the system of choreographic education; educational aspects of shaping a personality by means of Ukrainian folk dance etc.

During the seminar, a series of master classes was performed by the dance teachers of the Chair of Choreography and Arts. The master-class of Ukrainian folk dance was performed by Borys Kolnohuzenko, the national artist of Ukraine, Professor, Academician, teacher of the Chair of Choreography and Arts, Dean of Choreographic Arts at Kharkov Academy of Culture, Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer of the Great Slobozhan song and dance ensemble. Other workshops were conducted by the recognized experts in dance from Pavlo Tychyna USPU. The classical dance workshop was performed by Lyudmyla Androshchuk, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of Choreography and Arts, Artistic Director of "Visavi" Modern Dance amateur folk ensemble. The folk stage dance was presented by Sergiy Kutcenko, the teacher of the Chair of Choreography and Arts, Artistic Director of "Yavoryna" national amateur folk dance ensemble. Anastasia Kryvorotenko, the teacher of the Chair of Choreography and Arts showed a brilliant historical and community dance. Olga Bykova, the teacher of the Chair of Choreography and Arts, demonstrated rhythm and choreography performances. A master-class in grease-paint was introduced by Iryna Hroshovyk, the teacher of the Chair of Choreography and Arts.

The next step in the development of choreography, planned by the Chair of Choreography and Arts is going to be "Contemporary strategies of Choreographic Education Development" Nationwide Scientific Conference. It is going to be held on May 23 this year in USPU. We invite everyone interested in it.
