On the eve of the Independence Day of Ukraine Uman city hall was holding a round table on the topic "I am proud to be a Ukrainian!". 5 students of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University and student representatives from all city schools were invited to participate in the meeting. Most of people were dressed in embroidered clothes creating a special festive and patriotic atmosphere.

In the history of the Ukrainian people there are the events that remain utmost important, they are still relevant today. One of those events is the proclamation of the Act of Unification of Ukraine on January 22, 1919, another one being the independence gained in 1991. Natalia Vdovichenko, Acting Head of Department of Family and Youth of Uman city executive committee was pointing it out at the beginning of the round table.

Speaking at the event, Igor Kryvosheya, the Director of the Polish Cultural and Educational Center of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University, Ph.D., Associate Professor, mentioned that our country has been expecting its recognition for many centuries, so the idea of ​​the nationwide unity has always been endeavored by our people, it originates from the time of Kievan Rus' and Galicia-Volyn. Ukraine has a magnificent history the past of which is shining with glory conquered by the blood and sweat of our ancestors.

Young residents of the city recited the poems about Ukraine and its difficult fate. The students believe that soon Ukraine will be peaceful and serene and our people will defend the right of our state to join the number of the richest countries in the world without doubt and hesitation. That time will come soon! Ukraine is on the right way, its development is gaining momentum. Young people believe in a better future for their people and the homeland, so at the end of the festive gathering they proudly recited the poem by Volodymyr Sosyura "I am a Ukrainian and I am proud of it!"
