As Part of celebration of "Environment Day" sponsored by the "Environment and Education" research laboratory at USPU, Svitlana Sovgira, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of Chemistry and Ecology of the Nature and Geography Department at USPU, Tetiana Staschenko and Mykhailo Pliushsch, the teachers of biology at school number 3 initiated “Cleaning the small water bodies” environmental action. The purpose of the event was to draw the public attention to the problem of pollution of small water bodies and preserving the necessary cleanliness and greening of the river banks, promotion of green living.

The action was attended by the University teachers, graduate students of "Predict and prevent" problem research group, the 2 year students of the Nature and Geography Department, parents, teachers of the school number 3 and students of "Ekos" environmental group. The total number of participants was about 100 people.

The participants of the environmental action cleaned the banks of the Umanka River from the rubbish. They collected a large number of bags filled with debris and waste. Now that the environmental culture of people is so low, garbage collection is practically the only way to keep the banks of the rivers and ponds clean.

The action participants have strengthened and supported the shoreline with snowball trees and turf. Those plants are the symbols of Ukraine. In the process of planting those seedlings the tutors were familiarizing the students with the technological processes from preparation to planting to actual planting of each seedling.

The action participants express their gratitude for the material and moral support to the unknown sponsor who called himself Kostyantyn.
