The Scientific Library employees have organized an access to and contributed to a series of online workshops on working with the Web of Science platform from the Thomson Reuters Company. Since our University has trial access to the databases of Web of Science Corporation by Thomson Reuters, it is necessary to discuss the following issues:

April 22

  • Search capabilities of Web of Science platform. Search in the database of Web of Science Core Collection. Work with the search refining panel, usage of the working list (Marked List);
  • Search by Author and Researcher ID. Search by author in the database of Web of Science. Creating reports on quoting and interpreting the indicators of publishing activity;
  • endNote Online. Creating one’s own lists of bibliographies. Adding the records from different sources. Sorting the records, creating groups and managing the access to those groups;
  • journal Citation Report 2013. Searching and navigation through the most recent issue of 2013. Sorting the listings by different criteria and creating the list of most influential magazines.

  • Special searching in the Web of Science. Advanced searching capabilities in Web of Science Core Collection: Advanced Search and use of search operators, search of article bibliography, Cited References Search, use of chemical databases (Index Chemicus and Current Chemical Reactions) and structural search;
  • Searching by organization in the Web of Science. Searching the publications by the name of the organization: where to start, how to formulate a search query. The seminar addressed an advanced search, usage of the search field and Address SAME operator issues;
  • A new generation of Journal Citation Reports. Workshop introducing the new interface. Journal Citation Reports. Searching and navigating through the most recent issues of 2013. Sorting the listings by different criteria and generating a list of journals of the highest impact;
  • Review of DII, DCI, BIOSIS databases. Workshop on the characteristics of Derwent Innovations Index (DII) databases - patent citation index, Data Citation Index (DCI) - Code citation data banks, and biological database of BIOSIS.
