The students of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State University first participated in the Open Cup of Ukraine Cossacks Fight which took place 14 - 16 March in the city of Dnipropetrovsk, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and was dedicated to the memory of Hetman A.V. Popovych. And they won the battle!


Artem Dayneha, the second year student of Physical Training Department in the weight category up to 65.8 kg won the 3rd place among adults. Also, Yuriy Prusenko, the first year student of Physics and Mathematics Department won the bronze in the same weight category.

POPOVYCH ANATOLIY VASYLYOVYCH (1944-2012 years) was born in Khmelnytskyi Oblast. He graduated from 6 universities! (In 1965 from Physics and Mathematics Department of Kamyanets'-Podil's'kiy state pedagogical university, in 1978 from the Institute of Cybernetics, USSR Academy of Sciences ("Computer Science"). In 1985 he graduated from the Kyiv National University of Physical Education and Sports ("Box" specialty), in 1993 from Kyiv Institute of Civil Aviation (in "Aircraft Operation"). He obtained a Ph.D. Degree in Prague Academy of Computer Science and St. Petersburg University of fundamental knowledge at the University of Oxford.


His passion was improvement of the system of personal development and spiritual growth. Anatoliy Popovych was a Hetman of "Ukraine Cossacks" International Organization and "United Cossacks of Ukraine" National Union, General of the Army of Cossacks. He was the founder of such kinds of sports as “Contact Karate” and "Cossack fight", the master of the 6th dan in karate and 10th dan in all styles of martial arts, he was the President of the Federation of Martial Arts and Nationwide Federation of Ukrainian Cossacks.

Anatoliy Popovych was an Honored coach of Ukraine, a Referee of International category, a Trainer of unity and a true patriarch of martial arts in Ukraine! He began his path to mastery from the Indian military Yoga (in 1965), he was a student of 13 teachers from Indochina. He was also a Doctor of Philosophy at the International Academy of Computer Science, the President of Ukrainian professional league of contact martial arts, a Wushu champion in the category C "soft style", a champion in demonstrating the technology among artists of different styles of martial arts, national champion of the VII International Martial Arts Championships in Budapest, he had a grand of master of martial arts (Malaysia).

He had given much effort to the development of Ukrainian Cossacks. Anatoliy Vasylyovych created the "Composite System" on the basis of all the knowledge and chivalrous spirituality of the Slavic Kshatriya, Cossacks, was the Head Researcher of the "Cathedral" Cossack martial art school. Every year Popovych and the students were invited to Korea to participate in the "Master type" tournament where they had the opportunity to express themselves in all styles of martial arts of the world. The “Cathedral” students demonstrated the "Dragon" and "Tiger" complexes and the ones of the Vietnamese School. In India Anatoliy Popovych was heading the school of one of his teachers, Kalka Ama, the Great guru of yoga who had over a million followers.

Being a member of the Academy for Security, Defense and Public Order, Anatoliy Vasylyovych was a coach in different departments and institutions of higher security forces, the leading instructor and one of the authors of the rules of military combat airborne troop sports. He dedicated over 30 years of his life to the study of martial arts and health sports.

The national team athletes headed by Popovych were six times world champions, five-time European champions and six-time winners of the competition in the contact karate World Cup Championship. 200 masters of sports of Ukraine in contact karate, 46 masters of sports of international class, 14 Honored coaches of Ukraine were trained by this coach. During 16 years of his heading the Federation of Martial Arts the athletes of the Federation were the winners in European and international sport events 180 times. Anatoliy Popovych was the Patriarch of "Golden Tree" Shoalin of the founders of this style.
