Within the framework of international cooperation between Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University and School of Higher Professional Education in Plock (Poland), Valentyna Kushnir, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Yelyzaveta Panchenko, the teacher of the Chair of Foreign Languages participated in the "democratic way of education" scientific symposium held on May 27, 2014 in Plock. The event was organized by the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Professional Graduate School (Poland).


The scientists from different countries, such as Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Czech Republic and Slovakia discussed the democratic changes in education. Valentyna Kushnir made a report on the theme "Ukraine and Russia: two concepts of a single school (1917- 1919)" in which she attempted to highlight the aspiration of the Ukrainian educational elite for democratic reforms in education during the period of struggle for independence. Yelyzaveta Panchenko spoke about the challenges in formation of a democratic leadership qualities in today's world in her "The leaders are born, the democratic leaders are brought up" report.


The symposium delegates met with Dr. Kinga Prybyshevska, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences Graduate Professional School, and Jacek Hzhyvach, the Rector of Higher Vocational School, Professor. The latter highlighted the effectiveness of international cooperation of the school and Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University and expressed his hope for further effective cooperation.


During the tour organized in the framework of the event the guests had the opportunity to become better familiarized with the historical and cultural heritage and infrastructure of the city. The Scientific Symposium was held in a friendly atmosphere. The participants were actively discussing the common problems in the education.
