On the initiative of “Ecology and Education” laboratory scientists professor Svitlana Sovgira, associate professor Anna Goncharenko and by power of State Regional Administration was carried out natural protection action “Afforest” in the framework of All-Ukrainian ecology actions. In the action took part second- and third year students, teachers, PhD students of Natural Sciencies and Geography Department, local trade union committee representative Larysa Dereshchuk. Among forestry employees were represented Petro Shevchuk (forester in Sobkivsky forestry) and Oleksandr Doshka (his assistant).

The action was divided into 2 stages and aimed at defining peculiarities and necessity of green plantations, forester’s profession necessity, and natural education. The tasks of the action included: ecology consciousness development, applying modern technologies to wood cultivation, new forest growing.

The first stage was called “Afforest”. The square of Sobkivsky forestry plantation comprised 3,5 hectares. During the green plantation action 8,5 thousand oak saplings were planted. Technological consultations on green plantation were given by forest master Vitaliy Barabash. He demonstrated mechanisms which are used by foresters during soil preparation and sapling formation, and explained worker safety rules.

The second stage of the action “Plant a tree” was carried out in Sobkivsky forest territory (section 66). Naturalists planted and thinned out 500 bushes of boxwood.

In the end of the action foresters thanked action participators and treated everybody to real forest porridge.

The participators transferred the received money during natural protection action for military needs at ATO zone.
