Our university student council representatives Anna Denysyuk, Iryna Bolshakova (Ukrainian Philology Department) and Vitaliy Kelebay Department of Economics) took part in All-Ukrainian Student Forum “New Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” Implementation: student outlook”.

The event took place with Kharkiv Regional Student Council and Ukrainian Association of Student Councils assistance on the basis of Kharkiv Financial Institute of Ukrainian State Financial and International Market University.

In the forum took part student councils leaders and representatives of student organizations from seven regions of Ukraine.

The foum participators discussed norms and regulations of Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” and problems of student self-government in the new law. In particular, effective ways of student attraction into decision making at HEI, legislative support of student self-government bodies, the main values of higher education reform and integration into European space of higher education were discussed.

To be more effective, the round table was organized in 2 stages: Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” general discussion and article 40 “Student self-government” criticizing.

In the framework of informal part of the programme, members of student council of Kharkiv Financial Institute organized a wonderful excursion around Kharkiv and bowling club attendance.

Our representatives came back with positive emotions and new experience. It had been concluded that the new Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” will promote to higher education in Ukraine development, but there are still a lot of problems, which should be discussed.
