Recently at "Environment and Education" research laboratory of USPU there was a meeting of scientists of the Nature and Geography Department and the Laboratory coordinator of Schmal’gausen Institute of Zoology of the NAS of Ukraine.

The aim of the research was to summarize the results of the joint activities over the last decade and initiate the further fundamental and applied researches in various areas of ecology and biology for shaping the environmental awareness, belief, culture of the future teachers and improving the quality of their work.

The main problem raised at the meeting was the conservation of biodiversity as a priority for sustainable development. In particular, the problem of integration of science and education in educating the future teachers, natural and anthropogenic sources of mutagenic pollution of areas of Ukraine, global changes in biodiversity and its conservation, dynamics of batrachofauna of the Central Pobuzzhya over the past decade, saving the herpetofauna, avifauna in urban areas, agriculture and wildlife protection, ecological features of predatory mites in metropolis, best practices in biodiversity conservation.
