The life of students, teachers and staff of the University is not all about educational and scientific activity. It is also learning something new, interesting and exciting. This time everybody had a chance to create wonderful and amazing flowers and floral arrangements at the master class of kanzashy.

The master class was held on the 14th of November in the reading room number 1 of the University library. Irina Rud’, the librarian and Natalia Pedan, the Head of the department of licensing, accreditation and monitoring the quality of education demonstrated their work and introduced the technique of making kanzashy. The participants of the master class were submerged into the magnificent world of “magic“ where the ordinary satin ribbons turned into beautiful flowers. Everyone was able to personally pick up the pieces of colorful fabric and create one perfect decoration.

The master class was held in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. On completion of the creative activity the young people were admiring the results of their work.

Additional information:
Translated from the Japanese language the word “kanzashy” means a “pin”. Kanzashy is based on origami, the traditional Japanese art of making paper decorations. The kanzashy (Kanzashi) pinned in the hair was also used in the traditional Chinese and Japanese hairstyles. Currently, kanzashy is used by brides and those people who wear kimono (the ones whose profession is associated with Japanese traditions, particularly in the Japanese tea ceremony or creating ikebana). The old traditions have been revived: young Japanese women use kanzashy to make their hairstyles more sophisticated. Kanzashy are made from a wide range of materials like lacquered wood, gold and silver, other metals and silk. And recently, there has been a tendency to make plastic kanzashy.
