In May, Natalia Pobirchenko, the Rector of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University, Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, corresponding member of NAPS of Ukraine had a business trip to Poland. The main purpose of the trip was to discuss the opportunities for future cooperation and maintaining the mutual interest in generating the joint projects.

The delegation which included Oksana Zabolotna, the Vice-Rector of the University for International Affairs and Victoria Bordylyeva, the Assistant of the Rector, visited Pomeralia - the new and undiscovered region for USPU. They communicated about the scientific collaboration with the University of Gdansk and Pomeranian Higher Vocational School. Mayor of the city Skarshevy, Dr. Dariusz Skalski kindly agreed to represent the interests of our University during subsequent agreements and the signing of cooperation agreements. The cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports that the glorious Gdansk University is famous for is a new and exciting direction for us because Rector Natalia Pobirchenko gratefully accepted the invitation to participate in the international scientific conference in Rowas for the scientists of our University (for more information about the conference click here). The trip to educational center in Shymbarku was fascinating and instructive for children and adults.

In Gniezno, the sister city of Uman, the USPU representatives had a number of interesting and important meetings. Continuing the tradition of fruitful cooperation with the College of the Adam Mickiewicz University our delegates came to an agreement on educational opportunities (on the Master Degree Double Diploma Program) (it is worth mentioning once again that 4 USPU students are studying at the European College in Poland).

During meetings with Dariusz Pilak, the head of the Gniezno county and Jacek Kowalski, the president of the city of Gniezno, the discussion touched upon the current situation in Ukraine and its impact on the partnership. It should be noted that our Polish friends voiced an intension of support and willingness to help. The scholarships for Uman residents who will study in the college show the awareness that readiness offered by the two officials.

A bright moment of the visit was a trip to elementary school № 3 named after St. Adalbert (in Gniezno), dedicated to the 10th anniversary of Poland's joining the European Union. During the celebrations the school director Radoslaw Sobkovyak and Natalia Pobirchenko, the Rector of USPU presented awards to the primary school pupils who took part in two international contests. The first one was the English language contest the tasks of which were simultaneously given to the fourth grade pupils in Gniezno Primary School № 3, Uman School № 14 and SPC № 24. The second contest that required knowledge and skills in history, IT and English evaluated the multimedia presentations of Uman and Gniezno pupils. Winners will receive the prizes and gifts presented in Uman.
