University employees Lyudmyla Kryva and Andriy Lytvyn and a student of Economics Department and the College for Individual Interdisciplinary Humanitarian Studies studied in the summer school of Polish Language and Culture at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

Krakow, the City of Polish kings, welcomed the participants of the summer school attended by, literally, the representatives from all over the world - from Greece, Egypt, England, Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Korea, Serbia, Slovakia, Germany and others. Wojciech Nowak, the University Rector, Professor, made a speech about the opening of the school. Wishing good luck and good mood to the participants, he stressed the importance of participation in such programs because it would enable the participants to improve their knowledge of the language, culture and traditions of Poland.

Indeed, during the summer school the participants improved their Polish, participated in traditional Polish festivities, tasted folk dishes and, of course, travelled. The students attended the summer school, sights and castles of Krakow and witnessed the beautiful event - the annual Jewish Culture Festival held in Krakow Kazimierz. Swimming in the Dunajec River has made unforgettable impressions. The list of sights visited by the students included the Tatra National Park and the resort town of Zakopane. They also visited the salt mine in Wieliczka where they had the opportunity to go down 125 meters and see the history of salt mining.

The trip to Auschwitz, one of the largest concentration camps, was very interesting and difficult at the same time. "Work liberates" was the cynical inscription written at the entrance gate to the camp. This tour has not left anyone indifferent, tears were in everyone’s eyes because those walls collapsed and ended the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Their personal items, clothes, photos forced everyone to realize the value of human life.

Diplomas were awarded on completion of the Summer School of Polish Language and Culture at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The participants also receive exclusive badges of the Jagiellonian University as the symbols of joining the family of the students of this educational institution.

The event was extraordinarily nice because after the official part the youth had the opportunity to present their country folk songs, dances, games and poetry. It should be noted that the presentation of Ukraine was the brightest one. The representatives of Ukraine were dressed in traditional Ukrainian costumes, which added color and made the performance really popular. Moved by the performance, the members of school and university staff wish our country peace, harmony and prosperity.

Summer School is coming to a close. Everyone is looking forward to Diploma awards and the closing ceremony. We hope experience and knowledge that students received during this month will be useful later in life.
